The Good Guys
We take it for granted when we don't get shafted by companies, even if it's within their total power to do it. So here's a shout out to those companies that never did shaft us.
Github
I thought for sure Github would end up shafting us. It's such a good service at such a good price. Free for open source. Gets better ever year. Can't fault them.
Microsoft
I love c#. A lot of people are suspicious of it because of Microsoft. But the way they've opened it up and supported every platform with .net core is just crazy.
They put so much work into it, performance improvements every few months and the entire thing is licensed under MIT. Think about that. Microsoft spends millions of dollars on this and it's all open source MIT licensed.

Valve
Valve saved pc gaming with Steam. Can you think of any other company that wouldn't get tempted by the hoards of investment guys telling them how rich they'd be if they sell or go public?
Everything Valve does is for us, not them. They aren't motivated completely by self-enrichment. They know that by being awesome that all comes naturally, as a side effect.
I have been using unity as a hobbyist since 2008, paid their pro licensing and always supported them. But after CEO had his sexual harassment thing, and now this, sorry i'm done with unity.
P.s. I bought Half-Life 2 in 2005 just to play Garry's mod because I heard about it at school. So thanks for introduction to all of those games too, because they're great.
Keep it up, to the whole team at Facepunch
